We're opening a physical location in North Florida, come and see us soon! Things Crafty Creative Center in Lake City.

Well, it's true. The next nutty thing we are doing is opening up a retail and classroom space. We actually have 2 classrooms, and we have invited local artisans and crafters to bring their goods in for consignment. We are so happy to be able to provide the local community and our friends and fans a place to come and learn and perhaps pick up something fun in the gift shop!

We plan to be open sometime in August, of course there's a lot of decorating to do! Ilysa didn't have internet for over a week- so today we are just showing you a quick tour of the new space, we weren't sure if the internet situation would support a polymer clay tutorial. So we'll be back next week with something fun. In the meantime, don't forget we are having a 25% Christmas in July sale until the end of the month!

How to make a collar necklace with polymer clay and a metal quick collar form

I love these quick collars! The shape of this one in particular fits a lot of necks :) You can customize them in an infinite number of ways... use the colors you like, change up the theme, use different cutters and stamps, silkscreen on it, the choices are endless!

For this one, I used the left and right birds and cherry blossom cutters, my metal stampers, and a quick collar.
I also used some mica powders! What fun, this project comes together quickly and easily.

Polymer Clay Shrine Inspiration and Embossed design

I can't keep my hands off the shrine cutters I am so drawn to working with them. At first I was trying to make traditional shrines but then I started looking at the cutters in a whole new different way. I thought what if I turn it upside down now it becomes a super awesome design element too! So off I went to play and play and the rest is history. Join me on Polymer Clay TV to see some of these fun and easy creations I have been making.

We created the first set of shrine cutters for our Create Along Box which is a monthly box that we curate and create.  These boxes have been a big hit as we pack them with lots of fun and new things to create with. You can get the July and August boxes at this link.

We have since added 3 new sets of shrine cutters and you can find them all in our shop. We also have the elements mylar stencil and the silkscreen available too. Some of the products are exclusive to the box but we do try to make a few things available after the boxes are shipped.

While I was playing with the stencil I decided I wanted an embossed hams design so it dawned on me how I could get a great texture. Watch the video to see how I achieved this look. Hope you have lots of fun creating!

Going Mod on Polymer Clay TV with Easy and Fun Pendants

I love to mix up different textures and patterns to create unusual jewelry. These fun Mod Lantern cutters were a great shape to do this with. You can turn it upside or downside and get 2 different looks with one cutter. I love the look of using the graduated size designs and stacking them on top of each other using different silkscreen patterns. These have a kind of Tribal vibe to me and I was happy with the fun results not to mention how easy they are to make.

I used several different silkscreens to achieve these pendants. You can find our silkscreens at this link.
You can find the Mod Lantern Cutters at this link.

Try stringing these a variety of ways to get even more different looks. Add a leather cord, string with beads or even for a simple look add to a wire necklace. Have fun creating!

How to cover a glass beer bottle with polymer clay to decorate and recycle

I finished off a bottle of my favorite Ginger Beer, Crabby's.... and I noticed that this bottle has a cool flare at the bottom and and interesting overall shape. Why would I toss this bottle into the recycling bin, when I could cover it with clay and make a beautiful vase?

With a couple of design decisions- such as using a silkscreen and mold that complement each other, picking a triadic color scheme featuring split complementary colors, and making my own "bling," this bottle was completely transformed into something fun and funky :)

Long Silkscreens Create the Best Cuff Bracelets & 10th Anniversary

It's amazing that 10 years have gone by since we started Polymer Clay TV, June marks our 10th anniversary and it feels like we just got started. We have so much in store for you and we have tons of new things in the works. We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all of your support and friendship over the years, it has truly been an amazing journey! Of course after 10 years we still from time to time have technical difficulty and for some reason my iPad decided to film sideways so I tried to rotate it which made the video a small square you can't see on a phone. I have since re uploaded the sideways version which should be at least regular size so you can create along with me. You may actually enjoy the angle better who knows.

Today I used our long silkscreens to make a cuff bracelet. The beauty of these long silkscreens is you can create one long design that will fit a cuff or necklace and you don't have to piece things together! I don't know about you but that's never fun trying to get rid of seems and such. I ended up finishing the cuff using my metal stamps to add a little more to the bracelet, you can also find those in our shop. I decided I like to leave my clay on the metal cuff rather than pull it off and make it double thickness. To me it is less chunky but you can do what you like best many people bake it on the metal cuff and pull it off and add a double layer of clay to help thicken it, it is up to you but I did leave mine on the metal form.

New Liquid Sculpey and Pentagon Cutters

You have probably heard about the new Liquid Sculpey by now but if not it now comes in clear, black and white. I have only scratched the surface having just received mine but I see LOTS of potential! The one thing I noticed about the new LS is that it was not as thick as the silver or gold so it has more of a runny consistency. Obviously it will work better for certain applications than for others so it will involve some experimenting and pushing it to its limits. I wanted to use black as a type of grout and was happy with the results for the most part however I did notice when I accidentally got some of the black LS on to my piece and tried to wipe it off it smeared and stained a little. I was able to scrape some of it off but not all of it without distorting the silkscreen design. So if I was going to do this application again I would probably execute the piece differently next time. I would probably spread the LC across my base coat of clay and then place the tiles rather than trying to grout it in the traditional way. Just a tip.

Anyway today I show what I did with the Liquid Sculpey and our Create Along Pentagon graduated size cutters. I was given a great tip from Iris Weiss of Polyform and that was to make sure and bake the clear Liquid Sculpey at 300 degrees F. It will not ruin the other clay these directions come directly from the makers of the clay. However to be cautious if you are using a light or white color clay I would tent it so it doesn't discolor. Thats just my thoughts better safe than sorry.

How to create your own multipetal lotus flower pendant with polymer clay

I thought it would be fun to make a multi petal layered flower today, and use a simple technique to create a domed center. I chose the complementary colors of orange and turquoise metallics, and a slightly less shimmery gold color to allow the shine of the turquoise to really pop.

Demonstration of how to silkscreen a flower center and create a domed shape, how to embed cup chain for sparkle, how to cut and layer flower petals, and how to use eye screws to make hangers for your pendant. Silkscreens and interesting cutter shapes can be found at the shop.
