"Shades of Grey" Pendant & More

Shades of Grey Pendant by Cindi McGee
Love & Lace... Hearts..... Valentine's..... Love......."50 Shades of Grey"..... ???

I created this pendant with some of the fabulous goodies in the January "Love & Lace" Create Along Box! I used the lace Color Me Magic Transfer Paper, and the lace stencil. premo! Sculpey® clay was used to create the Skinner Blend, premo! Accents for the silver, and Sculpey® Clear Liquid Clay to add shine. The box also included shimmering pink mica powder, a heart cutter, a silkscreen, more great Transfer Paper options, a piece of vintage lace and a brand new item offered by Create Along - a Deco Disc! I've been having fun creating with many of the items in the box, including these two pieces. The heart cutter (along with more fabulous silkscreens and Magic Transfer Paper designs from Create Along) was used for the bohemian heart pendant below, and the Deco Disc was used for a mandala pendant she will be sharing soon! Learn more about the monthly Create Along box here!   AND - there are a limited number of the amazing Love & Lace January Create Along Boxes still available!  Order yours here.

Magical Fairy House Tutorial to Get You Inspired

As you have probably seen fairy doors and magical enchanted houses are all the rage now and for good reason they are so fun! I just love all the handmade love and attention that goes into these special worlds and I love making and sharing them with you too.

In the past I made a magical fairy lantern but now I am on to the whole house! I found this mushroom shaped glass jar at a yard sale and it has been in my studio holding thread, when it finally dawned on me what a cool and unique fairy house it would make. I can't imagine anyone not wanting to live inside of this place and its not even finished. LOL

Since this was a big project I knew I did not want to sculpt all the individual flowers and pieces. So I turned to my molds and cutters for assistance. It went surprisingly fast once my clay was conditioned and before I knew it I had enough flowers and leaves to get me creating. I made a total of 3 sheets of silkscreens using a silkscreen from our shop. I pieced the 3 sheets together and melded the seams with my fingers and my acrylic rod. I then added more flowers and leaves and of course what fairy house doesn't have a fairy lurking somewhere amongst the flowers.

I love how it is coming out but it is still a work in progress. Here is what I used so far to make it.

Faux Filigree on Polymer Clay TV & Anniversary Sale

Today on Polymer Clay TV I shared some ways to use just bits and pieces of molds and cutters. Sometimes you just want a certain area of a mold and not the whole thing, so I share how to do that. I also share how to use a butterfly mold to achieve a filigree look that is gorgeous and an embossing texture plate paired with bits of a mold to make a beautiful pendant. As you know I love to mix things up so I had a lot of fun with this one.

Happy 8th Anniversary to Polymer Clay TV

It was 8 years ago today June 16, 2007 that Kira and I launched Polymer Clay TV, the first ever online show dedicated to sharing our love for polymer clay and mixed media. It has been an amazing journey and we have met so many wonderful people along the way. Thanks for your support it means the world to us.

In all of these years we have never lived closer than 300 miles away from each other, so we had to learn to communicate online. We have learned so much in these last 8 years and we felt all of the things we have learned would help us to share our passion for polymer clay and mixed media with the world through Polymer Clay Adventure. It is hard to believe 8 years ago neither of us had ever done video or audio before but with hard work and dedication we figured it out.

Here is our very first show we ever did and I believe this was only the second time Kira and I had met in person.

Even all of these years later I don't think Kira and I have met in person more than a dozen and a half times if that. Kira moved from Florida to Texas to Maryland, I moved from Florida to Connecticut and back to Florida and the show still went on. LOL We don't plan on stopping anytime soon we have so much more to share so stay tuned and don't forget to subscribe so you don't miss anything! Thanks again, big hugs from us!

Covering a glass bottle with polymer clay to create a Bottle of Hope on Polymer Clay TV

Oh boy was yesterday challenging. I had to film Polymer Clay TV 3 times because I lost the first two videos and I only had one bottle and live 40 miles away from the craft store. So I had to improvise and walk you through creating some of the bottle but you will get the gist. You can make beautiful bottles easily when you incorporate your favorite molds and stamps to add texture and dimension. Follow along as I share how I made this beautiful but easy bottle. You can make beautiful Bottles of Hope with a glass bottle as an armature. It is easy and fun to make, we use molds, powdered pigments and our imagination to create these fun bottles that are then given to cancer patients. Enjoy!

Lacey Heart Plaque Polymer Clay and Wood Tutorial on Polymer Clay TV in Time for Valentines Day

Valentines Day is this weekend so of course I had to make something with hearts out of polymer clay for today's Polymer Clay TV. I have been buying these wood pieces from the craft store because I loved them but I haven't done much with them. So I challenged myself to make something that had a soft look to it for Valentines Day rather then the traditional bright red. I wanted to gift it to my sister so that she can keep it hanging all year long so I stayed away from the traditional Valentines Day Colors. The new multi flower mold and the new flourish mold were a perfect combo. Hope you enjoy the tutorial. I had fun making this one!
