How to use polymer clay to alter a paper mache heart
I wanted to use polymer clay to embellish a paper mache heart. I started by creating a shadowbox like recessed area. I show how to achieve this on today's Polymer Clay TV. Once you learn the technique you can create anything you want to of your heart. How about a little fairy world inside the heart? The sky is the limit! Kira will continue with her fairy door heart next week so you will see several ways to use these fun hearts. Valentines Day is right around the corner so why not get started now!

How to create several surface techniques for polymer clay faux wood, raku and stone
Today Kira uses the popular Fairy Door to illustrate how you can easily make a faux wood look, faux stone, moss and mortar. Several easy to find mediums and paints are used.
PanPastel was used with dark brown clay to produce an instant antiqued wood look. Micaceous Iron Oxide medium by Golden is painted and stippled to give a stone look and it bonds well with polymer clay. You can produce a faux raku look with this technique as well! Patina by Ranger in the color "Clay" was used on the wood door stoop. And Pearl Ex Powders were used with a paintbrush to add dimension to the faux stone.

I know many of you are under multiple feet of snow so how about creating along with me to make a bright flowery box to brighten your day. I share design tips that help to make things flow better in today's video. So come create along with me!
